We went to at&t wireless center today regarding with my Nokia N70 phone which did not actually pick up any signal with my at&t wireless simcard. Unfortunately, the guy who working in there doesn't even know what he is talking about. He keep looking on the computer screen to see if N70 is compatible with at&t cingular. After waiting there for an hour, he finally give up and then we went home failed. (i was excited p nmn to operate this).
To my curiosity, i went up online and search about the network frequency (whatever). Then i just figure Nokia N70 operates only with GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz and limits the coverage. I am in the area that mainly supports 850 MHz towers. (It must be the exact reason). I got Nokia 6555 with at&t and it works perfect because it has General Network UMTS / GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900. I'm still wondering if it works with other carrier like T-mobile or Verizon and maybe i can switch. (gonna be hard since hubby and friends here are using at&t)
Since its not working in the area where am i at, i probably buy a simcard roaming from philippines that way my family can text me for only 1peso which is not much compared to chikka or yahoo and i still can use the phone or send it to them either way. I got Nokia 3650 also support GSM 900 /1800/1900 too, same thing..but i am going to give it to my sis when i go and visit Phils soon though.
